My Day at Home

Today was a better day than yesterday. Ryan's temperature has been normal all day and he seemed to have a little bit more pep than he did yesterday.

His counts have risen again today, white counts 3700, ANC 1300 and platelets are 51. Dr. Meyer, the surgeon, was in this afternoon to tell Ryan that they are planning to put his permanent port in tomorrow afternoon. That should happen around 3:00, pray that all goes well and the surgery is a quick one.

We will get the results from the blood and urine tests tomorrow. There is a chance that Ryan has a bit of pneumonia, that should be taken care of by antibiotics, but we won't know that for sure until tomorrow.

We both had a rough couple of days, but with prayer and a good chat this afternoon, we're looking up again. We're not letting Satan get hold of this family in this situation. We know that our God is a good God and we will cling to the hope for a positive future.

  1. Goodluck with your surgery tomorrow! Glad to hear you having a better day today. I love your last paragraph, April -- well said! We'll pray that Satan won't tempt you guys and God will protect and guide you through all this. You are in our thoughts and prayers everyday. You guys keep up the good fight. I thought you might like to read this paragraph that I find comfort in during the midst of trials and sufferings . . .

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain, But he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

We'll keep the prayers coming for all of you. Hope to hear more good news.

In thee O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confussion.
    Psalm 71:1

Keep your focus and don't let satan steal anything from you or your family.

    Lots of love,

  5. Ryan and family,
Wanted you to know that you are on our prayer concern list at the Versailles Christian Church (across from the elementary.)
I have been keeping up with your blog and recognize the ups and downs of the cancer fight both physically, mentally, and spiritually, always a very challenging time in so many ways.
God is walking with you and your family and so very many prayers are being sent to God for you.
Keep on keeping on, doing the best you can and do rest.
Let the many people who have offered to help, do that. Your family and you will get more rest and those people will feel better about being able to "do something."

Praying for your defeat of the cancer.
Carmen(Barga) Snyder (I am Gus Barga's daughter and my daughter, Betsy, graduated with Rachel.)
